The Starfire Herd

Meet the horses who have inspired me and played a crucial role in creating the Starfire Equine Connection course. They are the heart and foundation of our equine interactions and facilitated learning. Each horse has its own unique story and wisdom to share, offering immense gifts to those seeking self-development and healing through our services.

Many of these horses have faced their own traumas and challenges. Some were rescued by The Three R’s Horse Rescue Centre, others by Oak Tree Animals’ Charity, and four found healing and sanctuary through my own Starfire Horse Rescue. Three were simply unwanted by their previous owners. Two has transitioned to the spirit world, but their wild spirit, courage, and wisdom remains an integral part of the learning I offer at Starfire Equine Connection. They live on through my heart, the herd, and the land.

Which horse will journey with you as your heart connects with theirs?

The physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of the horses is paramount. Their well-being is never compromised in the wisdom and gifts they share through their interactions. I continually work with my horses to empower them and heal deep-rooted emotional wounds. These experiences bring profound lessons and facilitate meaningful interactions with people.

Dorothy

What a most beautiful soul. So laid back, you could say she was almost horizontal. My partner arranged to visit her at Oak Tree Animals’ Charity after the devastating loss of my pony Gwennol. Dorothy was a light in that moment of deep sorrow and despite the trauma she endured in her life, she embraced life at a slow and relaxed pace. She integrated immediately into the herd, forming close bonds with the two younger mares Thorn and Ffione. Dorothy found herself in the comfort of oak tree Animals’ Charity, after a huge RSCPA rescue of multiple horses. i have only had glimmers of the terrors and horrors she has endured. The charity did a remarkable job in helping her and I am so grateful she is a part of the Starfire family. She was thought to have been born in 2004/

Taz

Taz was the first horse to arrive here with us. Her stay was initially to be temporary, needing time for recuperation, nourishment and nurturing. However, she is now here permanently and a part of our family, and established strong bonds with the herd. She is an old girl, and been through a fair amount of sorrow in her life, one which has brought stress to her physical body,, and her emotional heart. Some health issues we are helping her with include a heart murmur, thyroid issues, imbalance of the womb, and a weekend structural system. She was born in July of 1996, and will be enjoying her elder years here with us, gifting her wonderful nature, spirit, and heart to all she meets.

Bird

Bird arrived in July 2024, to be reunited with Taz after being a part for nearly a year. It was decided that she would most benefit coming to stay here with us. This beautiful girl was born in June of 2003, and shared all of that time with Taz. It delighted us so to have them reunited. Bird is a beautiful soul, and immediately formed a connection to Dana. There is yet levels to her we have yet to see since she has only been here for a short time. We look forward to getting to know her much more, and through our work, we will report any imbalances that she may possess, at an emotional and physical level. At this time. her most pressing concern is a very bad hoof. Bird was accepted very quickly by her fellow herd here at Starfire Horse Rescue, and you will find her mostly with Taz, and Dana’s own pony, Mabena. She has this lovely energy that exudes confidence, and strength.
